  • cryophilia: Preference for cold environments, climates, objects and low temperatures
  • halophilia: Attraction to salt or salt-water. (I love beaches)
  • heliophilia: Attraction to sunlight. (Feels so good on the skin)
  • hydrophilia: Attraction to water.
  • hyperthermophilia: Describing organisms that thrive in extremely hot environments.
  • lithophilia: Preference/affinity to stones. (sort of)
  • mesophilia: Preference of moderate temperatures in microorganisms.
  • nyctophilia: A preference for darkness or night.  
  • photophilia: Preference of living or spending time in lighted conditions.
  • psychrophilia: Preference of cold temperatures.
  • rheophilia: Preference of living in running water.  (Yes, I love Long therapeutic showers)
  • tropophilia: Preference of seasonal extremes of climate. (New Englander my whole life)
  • nucleophile: A substance having an affinity for positive charge; antonym of electrophile.
  • audiophilia: Love of high-fidelity sound reproduction
  • cinephilia: Love of cinema and film
  • logophilia: Love of words - Logophiles may be interested in word games, such as crosswords, or Scrabble, and in the extreme, derive enjoyment from reading things commonly given less notice, such as labels
  • metrophilia: Love of the metro rail or subway systems
  • turophilia: Love of cheese / connoisseur of cheese
  • Francophile, a fan of French culture. Antonym: Francophobe
  • Hellenophile, a fan of Greek culture
